Middle Township will host a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday July 14th at 3:00pm to celebrate the opening of the final southern portion of its bike path. This portion connects Middle Township to Lower Township to further enhance the Cape May County Regional Bike Path Plan.

The funding for this connector was graciously provided by the Cape May County Open Space Board through a grant application. This vital funding has now paved the way for ambitious bikers to travel from the Cape May County Zoo all the way to the Cape May-Lewis Ferry Terminal in North Cape May which encompasses approximately 15 miles.

“This was the missing puzzle piece for the southern portion of our Township, now that it’s complete, we can enjoy seamless travel into Lower Township. It is a win-win for both Townships”, said Mayor Michael Clark. “It is a great feeling knowing this project is complete”.

The connector is approximately 1 mile and crosses over Route 47 along Railroad Avenue into Lower Township joining Lower’s bike path. The economic benefits are greatly enhanced for Rio Grande. The Rio Grande Shopping District is located within reach of the path and will help to cut down on vehicle congestion. It will also provide area residents and visitors a healthy and safe way to exercise.
