ALICIA WOODROW NAMED MIDDLE JANUARY EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Alicia Woodrow, Technical Assistant to the Construction Official, has been named Middle Township’s January Employee of the Month. Alicia joined the Township team in May 2021 and received her TACO certification on December 24, 2021. Alicia will be publicly honored at the January 22nd Township Committee Meeting. Woodrow received two nominations for the monthly award.
Township Construction Official Dan Spiegel cited Woodrow’s insightful knowledge of the ever-evolving Uniform Construction Code.
“When I joined the Township’s Construction Office, Alicia’s knowledge and support were critical to ensuring a smooth transition for our staff and applicants,” Spiegel said. “Alicia is a “model employee”. She thoroughly enjoys her job, interacts well with our staff and customers and works hard to stay current on the complex construction codes that govern project development in the State of New Jersey. Alicia knows her job extremely well and is enthusiastic in mastering new rules and regulations in the ever-evolving world of the Uniform Construction Code. Our office simply would not run as well without Alicia’s knowledge, dedication and enthusiasm.”
Township resident Gerald O’Brien was unfamiliar with the permitting application process when he reached out with questions to the Construction Office. O’Brien was pleasantly surprised with Alicia’s prompt and professional response to his initial inquiries.
“Alicia Woodrow should be the Employee of the Month,” O’Brien said. “I had questions about permitting and submitted an online request for some information, mainly because I had no idea where to start. I received a response from Alicia in a few minutes and she outlined what I needed. She also suggested that I give her a call. I did give her a call and she talked me through the process. She was super nice, very informative and made a complicated and intimidating process easy to understand and navigate.”
Beyond her official duties, Alicia is always quick to volunteer for community events and serves as the Secretary of the Garden Club.
“I’m not at all surprised to hear these positive comments on Alicia’s job performance,” Deputy Mayor Ike Gandy said. “The Construction and Zoning Offices are busy every day and the processes for applications and approvals can be a long and winding road. Alicia does an excellent job of coordinating staff, communicating with the Construction Official and Inspectors and shepherding applicants to successful outcomes.”
The Middle Township Employee of the Month program was initiated by the Township Committee to honor employees who exemplify the Township’s commitment to better delivery of services and going the extra mile for residents. The program culminates with the Darius Graham Employee of the Year honor that is named after one of the Township’s most beloved employees in its history.
Nominations for the Employee of the Month Program are available at Township Hall at two locations: Human Resources and Training Department and the Administration Department. Residents from the Township who have had a very positive interaction with any Middle Township employee may pick up the one-page nomination form and fill it out in the employee’s behalf.
