The Middle Township Committee will honor Lee Ann Russ as the September 2014 Employee of the Month at its next meeting, to be held October 20th at 6 p.m.
Russ began her career at Middle Township by working part-time during her senior year at Middle Township High School. Upon graduating in 1986, she joined the township on a full-time basis, receiving her Tax Assessor Certification in 1990. She was appointed Deputy Tax Assessor in 1997, and has served as Tax Assessor since 2010 and as Coordinator of Computer Services since 2001. Married with two children, the Goshen resident enjoys spending her spare time assisting the Middle Township Panther Band and Color Guard. She also relishes days on the beach with her dad and skiing. Russ states that her favorite aspect of her job is the opportunity to meet and assist property owners in Middle Township. That, and her co-workers. “I have worked with a lot of people over the years and we have always had the same goal—to work together as a team,” stated Russ.
“Lee Ann Russ exemplifies the caring and professional attitude that so many of our employees share,” said Mayor Tim Donohue. “As a longtime Department Head and a Middle Township resident, Lee Ann was as upset as anyone upon hearing about the large sum of money that the Township had wasted for over a decade on unnecessary phone lines. Lee Ann took it upon herself to do a detailed audit of all our existing lines. Her hard work and diligence resulted in the cancellation of over a dozen phone lines and an annual savings to the Township of nearly $12,000 per year. I’m proud to name her our September Employee of the Month. We like nothing better than to recognize employees who are committed to ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and reluctantly.”
The Middle Township Employee of the Month program was initiated by the Township Committee to honor employees who exemplify the Township’s commitment to better delivery of services and going the extra mile for residents. The program culminates with the Darius Graham Employee of the Year honor that is named after one of the Township’s most beloved employees in its history.
Nominations for the Employee of the Month Program are available inside Middle Township hall at three locations: Human Resources and Training Department, Administration Department, and on the bulletin board. Residents from the Township who have had a very positive interaction with any Middle Township employee may pick up the one-page nomination form and fill it out in the employee’s behalf. Each month a Township employee will be selected; the winning nominee will receive a certificate at a future Township Committee meeting along with a photograph posted on the bulletin board.
