Middle Applauds County Changes to Goshen Road Speed Limits
Middle Township Mayor Chris Leusner and Township Committee praised the Cape May County Board of Commissioners for final passage of a resolution modifying the posted speed limits on County Road 615, Goshen Road. The major artery runs north to south through the northwest section of the Township.
Township Committee made an official request to the county for the speed limit modifications in 2023, following a Road Safety Study completed in conjunction with road and drainage improvements on Goshen Road.
“We are happy to see the latest phase of the long-awaited road and drainage improvements on Goshen Road nearing completion,” Mayor Leusner said. “The revisions to the posted speed limits are based on a comprehensive study and intended to ensure safe operations on this important road for both commercial and residential traffic.”
The County Commission Board approved the speed limit changes at the November 26th meeting of the Board.
The speed limits for both directions along Goshen Road are modified as follows:
Zone 1: 25 MPH from Mechanic Street to Johnson Lane
Zone 2: 35 MPH from Johnson Lane to Tickneck Road
Zone 3: 45 MPH from Tickneck Road north for 4300 linear feet to the southerly approach to the Bidwell’s Branch Culvert
Zone 4: 35 MPH from the south approach of Bidwell’s Branch to William Street
Zone 5: 25 MPH from William Street to NJ Route 47
Regulatory and warning signs will be erected and maintained to affect the revised speed limits.
