MIDDLE WILL EXPAND OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUTDOOR DINING AND RETAIL

In response to Gov. Murphy’s recent guidance on outdoor dining and retail, Mayor Tim Donohue will sign a municipal Executive Order that permits an expansion of outdoor dining and outdoor retail, for the 2020 season.

This executive order will allow both retail businesses and restaurants to use, when possible and practical, private property adjacent to their deeded business and the public Right of Way (essentially, municipal sidewalk) for outdoor retail and outdoor dining.

The process will require an application to be made to the Zoning Officer that includes the insurance certificate that is required by the pending order. The Zoning Officer reviews the application, and either amends it or approves it. Public safety will be an important component.

There is no permit fee, and the application does not need approval from the Middle Township Planning and Zoning Board.

Once approved, outdoor dining may occur on the date it is allowed by the Governor of the State of New Jersey, June 15th. All social distancing and other measures mandated by the State of New Jersey must be followed.

Applications will be available online at middletownship.com beginning 3pm, Friday 6/5/2020

We will update this information with further details, once the application is officially available online.
