LEAVES, BRANCHES AND CHRISTMAS TREES

LEAVES

Yard waste will not be picked up in plastic bags.  Residents must use either “PAPER” lawn & leaf bags or they can use open can/containers, placed curbside.

PLASTIC BAGS WILL NOT BE PICKED UP.

Leaves that are raked to the curb in bulk will be picked up only in the fall from early November through January in accordance with our published “Leaf Schedule”.

  • Leaves MUST be no more than 6 feet from edge of road of black top and 10 feet from storm drains.
  • Do NOT put leaves in a fenced area or around mailboxes, paper boxes or on hills on edge of the road.
  • We cannot collect leaves if there are twigs, debris,dirt, stones, brush or branches mingled with leaves(this will damage our vacuum).

GRASS CLIPPINGS

Grass clippings are best disposed of by the “cut and leave it” method.

SMALL PILE OF BRANCHES

Small piles of branches must be no more than  6 feet from edge of road of black top and 10  feet from storm drains.  Branches can also be put in open containers, but cannot be mixed  with leaves, trash, dirt or stones.   BRANCHES CANNOT BE IN BROWN BAGS.

BRANCHES

  • Trees, branches and brush must be freshly cut, not to exceed 6’-7’ in length and be free of roots and soil.
  • Place at curbside (clear of trees, electrical wires and mailboxes) in an orderly fashion with all cut ends facing the roadway.

This service is only provided to established residences and is not applied to clearing of undeveloped property.

Tree roots, stumps and logs are NOT picked up by the Township.  The homeowner will have to arrange for their disposal.  Contact the Cape May County MUA for more information (609) 465-9026.

CHRISTMAS TREES

Christmas Trees can be put to the curb for pickup when you take your Christmas tree down. Tree must be free of decorations, tinsel (as much as possible) and the stand.  If tree is bagged, please remove bag once the tree is curbside.
