The Township of Middle is accepting applications for a full-time Personnel Officer in the Human Resources and Training Department. Applicants will be responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance. Under supervision, employee performs work in public sector human resources. Applicant would be involved with completion and processing of various forms required for enrollments, adjustments, terminations, benefits, and pension plans, which may also include those required for union dues, garnishments, and other deductions from pay. Candidates must have the ability to interact well with the public, fellow employees and public officials. Public sector human resources and benefits administration experience preferred. Experience in employee recruitment and retention, staff development, HR records management, HR policies development and legal compliance of FMLA/ADA/EEO/WC required. Effective communication skills, both oral & written, in potentially stressful situations required. Three (3) years of supervisory personnel experience including the review of classification problems and wage studies, handling personnel problems and coordination of the training needs of the jurisdiction required. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree required. Appointment is provisional pending Open Competitive Examination through NJ CSC.
