April Employee of the Month – Katrina Born
Katrina Born, Technical Assistant to the Construction Official, has been named Middle Township’s April 2024 Employee of the Month. She was honored by the governing body at the April 22nd Township Committee Meeting.
“Katrina is a great example of a true team player,” Mayor Chris Leusner said. “In her roles as a Technical Assistant and as Volunteer Board Secretary, she leads the way in coordinating team efforts and ensuring projects are completed in a timely manner.”
In her position, Katrina assists with the issuance of construction permits in order to assure compliance with the provisions of the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. Her role also includes:
1. Performing general office functions including answering phones, filing, data entry, mail distribution, etc.
2. Setting inspection schedules based on priority of inspections to ensure completion within the time frames required by the UCC.
3. Reviewing inspection logs periodically for overdue inspections and taking appropriate action.
4. Evaluating applications for construction and zoning permits to ensure all necessary information and documents are included and requesting additional documentation as required.
5. Assisting the public at the counter thus providing excellent customer service.
Like many Township employees, Katrina lends her time to one of the Township’s active volunteer boards. She serves as secretary on the Township’s Environmental Commission, which acts as an advisory body to the local government, provides the expertise needed to address today’s complex environmental issues, and is a local source of information on state environmental laws and programs.
Fellow Township employee, Betzy McClintock, nominated Katrina Born for Employee of the Month, focusing on Katrina’s service on the Environmental Commission.
“Katrina, in her capacity as Environmental Commission Secretary, has time and time again shown outstanding initiative and dedication to community service,” McClintock said. “Her most recent project, Backpack Snacks, (collecting snacks for school-aged children) is truly awesome. Having someone like Katrina on our team, who is actively engaged in bettering our community, exemplifies the type of colleague that is deserving of Employee of the Month.”
